Hi and welcome to Stage Play.  I'm Alison Lewis, a Theatre Practitioner from the UK. I started Stage Play here in the USA to provide unique drama classes and parties for children. I believe that creative play in a safe environment is beneficial to a child’s development. Through creative theatrical play children develop new transferable skills that can help them do better in school as well as gain confidence in social situations.  My objective as a drama teacher for young people is to develop structured creative play within the workshops by including theatrical games that are specially designed for children and young adults. These games offer the opportunity to learn without the fear of failing. This helps develop important life skills as well as gives them the opportunity to perform. Through a mix of themed interactive games, exercises, improvisations, songs and dances I encourage teamwork and aim to instill confidence, co-ordination, concentration, imagination and communication skills while they simply have fun. By encouraging them to enjoy themselves while participating, students grow in confidence and gain strong social skills that will help their journey through childhood into young adulthood. In my experience children respond 100% to creative play becoming motivated, inspired and eager to learn. At Stage Play I guarantee that the shyest of children will shine.  Alison Lewis has been performing and teaching for over 15 years in the UK. She specializes in the growth and development of children through creative play. After working extensively in Theatre in Education and Circus Skills for Children, she became Manager then Principal to a variety of drama schools for children in London. Through her experience she developed theatre games that  work  towards building confidence and social skills in an enjoyable, creative and theatrical environment.

Play is fun!.......and play is also essential for learning and human development. It keeps our minds alert, helps us to grow physically and mentally, keeps us active and healthy and boosts our creativity.

When children play, they learn to solve problems, make decisions and choices, express themselves, communicate and recognize boundaries.

It is therefore not surprising that Children who play do better in school.

The objective at Stage Play is to develop creative play within the workshops by mixing theatre games and children's games together resulting in an education in theatre skills and life skills. 

The stages of Play 

The workshop is divided into three stages. Each stage plays an important part in developing the children's social skills.

1. Body Play

Body play develops co-ordination through dance, yoga for children and fast paced physical games. This stage allows the students to explore their bodies with confidence, gain sharp reaction skills and develops their expression through movement.

2. Vocal Play

Vocal play enhances communication through learning original songs, poems and playing vocabulary games. This stage builds the student’s memory, focus and voice projection. My aim is to give them the confidence to speak with a strong clear voice and with good eye contact at all time. I work closely on their confidence to communicate and build relationships with children and adults.

3. Role Play

Role play encourages imagination through teacher led improvisations. The students learn to express their vivid imaginations to others, create characters, surroundings and circumstances. They learn how to respond to situations while exploring their creativity.

All workshops explore The Theme of the Semester which includes Space, Circus, Explore the World, Animals, Under the Sea, Fairy Tales, Favorite Films, Wild West and more.

Stage Play parties for 4 - 7 year olds

Exclusively for 4 - 7 year olds Stage Play combines drama, dance and singing with fun games, songs stories and improvisations. All this complimented with music creates a unique and memorable party for your child.

The parties are high energy, fun and totally infectious - children just can't resist joining in. It is purely an interactive party.  I arrive at your hired venue or home (providing there is enough room) with simply a CD player, a few props and I take the children on an exciting journey into their favorite fantasy land.

All you have to do is help your child choose a theme.* 

I begin with movement games, followed by vocal games (perhaps learning a song if your child loves singing) and I end with an unforgettable journey into the world of their chosen themes through improvisation.

I suggest the entertainment to last one hour 15 minutes after the party starts to allow for late comers and before you serve up the food and/or cake. If they want the children can dress up for the theme, they love it and it adds to the day being a unique and memorable one.
